3 Places You Should Not Miss on Your Visit to Ramtek Temple, Nagpur

January 18, 2019

Nagpur is known as the winter capital of Maharashtra state and also famous for its oranges all over the world. It is also the geographical center of India and Zero Mile Stone in Nagpur marks the exact center of the Indian Peninsula.

We have kept the options open on our travel to Nagpur,  whether to roam around the city or to go away from the city.. It was October. The famous tiger reserves of Tadoba and Pench which is 100-150 Kms away from Nagpur will be closed due to the monsoons. We ditched the so-called must visit places in Nagpur such as Deekshabhoomi, Zero mile stone, Ambazari Lake etc etc...

We went on a small picnic to Ramtek temple away from all the hustle and bustles of Nagpur, renting a self-drive car from U Drive. Let me list out for you what places you can visit clubbing with Ramtek Temple.

Ramtek Temple

Distance from Nagpur to this fort temple is about 55 Km. It is believed that Lord Rama took rest in this temple before leaving to conquer Lanka.

From the top of the temple, you can see the beautiful view of Ramtek city and nearby lakes. The temple is more like a pilgrimage place than a touristry.

Beware of Monkeys. From the place of car parking itself, they follow you for food.

1. Sindoor Baoli.

Just near to the Fort temple, near the car parking area is the Sindoor Baoli. Though much information is not known about this place. We couldn't even find it on google maps. Just walking around the place helped us finding this Baoli.

2. Khindsi Lake

It is at a distance of 4 Km from the Ramtek temple. There is a small park developed near to the lake, where people have to pay an entrance fee of Rs.25/-. Boating facility also available inside the park. We didn't go inside but stopped afar from the park to enjoy the lake.

3. Nagardhan Fort

It is around 7 Km from Ramtek Temple. Nagardhan Fort is protected under the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act.

Opening hours for Nagardhan Fort is from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. We reached by 5.15 PM and missed to explore inside the fort.

It was a ride to remember through those countrysides with a lot of drizzling throughout the day.

If you know more places nearby Ramtek Temple area hope you don't mind sharing with us..

Happy Travelling..
